Simultaneous interpreting: participants speak without pausing and interpretation takes place simultaneously in real time.

Consecutive interpreting: each participant speaks in 'consecutive' segments, during short periods of time, before the interpreter intervenes.

Over-the-phone interpreting: recommended for dialogues between two people, either with simultaneous or consecutive interpreting.
